From Strategy to Speed: ACI Motorsports Turns Challenges into Success at Road America, Securing Pro-Am Victory and Near Double Podium Finish

ACI Motorsports arrived at Road America riding momentum and left the Midwest highlighting the bright future ahead for the Chattanooga-based team.

Across the race weekend, the Chattanooga-based team demonstrated the depth of the squad, from testing in varying track conditions to qualifying, and executed an impressive recovery in Race 2. The weekend highlighted ACI’s strength as a team and the performance of both its Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entries.

Testing & Qualifying

ACI ran both noon and evening test sessions to gather data in very different track conditions—midday heat versus cooler evening sun. These insights proved valuable in dialing in setup and tire strategy ahead of the challenging 4.014-mile Road America circuit.

Qualifying showed ACI’s raw pace. Riley Dickinson put the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche on pole with a flying lap of 2:14.887 (overall). Loek Hartog, who rejoined the team after time away from ACI machinery, posted strong times and was among the frontrunners in the qualifying order. The strong qualifying results set the team up for an eventful race weekend.

Race 1: Called Off

Race 1 was called off shortly before going green due to a sudden weather situation and track curfew considerations. The field completed an out-lap but never went green, and officials declared the session unofficial. GT4 America has indicated the event will be carried forward to the next scheduled round at Barber Motorsports Park, September 5–7, 2025.

Race 2: Action-Packed & Strategic

Race 2 delivered everything fans expect at Road America: significant temperature swings, strategic calls on Pirelli’s new DHG compound, and multiple restarts. A full-course yellow late in the race meant teams had to manage restarts and timing. ACI’s pit timing and driver stints proved pivotal.

No. 7 Porsche

  • Team owner and principal Curt Swearingin opened with a steady drive, gaining positions in early laps and keeping clear of trouble.
  • After a well-timed pit stop and strong restart execution, Riley Dickinson climbed rapidly into podium contention.
  • The pair secured the Pro-Am class victory and P3 overall.
  • They also earned the Hard Charger Award for their charge through the field.

No. 9 Porsche

  • Dan Sibille delivered aggressive but composed racecraft, making a standout on-track pass that highlighted his growth as a competitor.
  • Loek Hartog then mounted a powerful drive, gaining positions on restarts and moving the car toward the front.
  • Sharp pit strategy allowed the team to avoid losing a lap, finishing P10 overall and P4 in Pro-Am, narrowly missing the podium.

Awards & Team Notes

  • No. 7: Pro-Am class victory + P3 overall.
  • Curt & Riley earned the Hard Charger Award (awarded to drivers who advance the most positions during a race).
  • The weekend reinforced the team’s ability to adapt strategy to changing conditions, particularly with the new Pirelli DHG compound, and showcased the crew’s clean, efficient pit work under pressure.

Driver Reactions

Riley Dickinson, Driver, No. 7

“What a weekend at Road America! It feels great to get our first win of the season and get some valuable points towards this championship fight. Curt drove a great opening stint which put us in the position to take advantage of a couple full-course yellows after a great strategy call by Adam (Tanner) and the team. Very much looking forward to our next event at Barber Motorsports Park!”

Dan Sibille, Driver, No. 9

“It was truly rewarding to get back into the No. 9 Porsche GT4 RS Clubsport after a brief hiatus and be able to turn in competitive lap times at Road America. Loek drove some of the quickest laps during the race which set us in a position for a podium finish. The ACI team also did an exceptional job of preparing our Porsche GT4 race cars throughout the entire race event.”

Loek Hartog, Driver, No. 9

“Very satisfied with this weekend. The team did an outstanding job providing fast, reliable cars throughout. We can leave with our heads held high, knowing there were no mistakes. I’m especially proud of my teammate Dan, who continues to show a steep learning curve in this competitive championship. This weekend proved that with just a few more corners of racing, we could have earned our first SRO podium. Looking forward to Barber Motorsports Park and hitting the ground running again.”

Curt Swearingin, Team Owner / Driver, No. 7

“Riley led the charge today, and our strategy made the difference. I couldn’t be prouder of the entire ACI team, their skill and teamwork made this weekend the success that it was.”
