CI Motorsports Showcases Resilience in Championship Fight During Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix Weekend

‍Miami Gardens, Fla. (May 3, 2026) — ACI Motorsports delivered a hard-fought and resilient performance during Round 3 of Porsche Carrera Cup North America at the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix, overcoming significant adversity in a weekend defined by critical championship momentum.

Race 1 proved to be one of the most demanding contests of the season, with multiple ACI drivers facing early setbacks while continuing to push for valuable points on one of motorsport’s biggest stages.

After securing overall pole position in qualifying, Janne Stiak’s race was dramatically disrupted by contact in Turn 1 on Lap 1, forcing the young Porsche standout from the front to the back of the field. Stiak executed an extraordinary recovery drive, carving his way back through the field to secure a hard-earned P6 overall finish in one of the weekend’s most impressive performances.

Patrick Mulcahy, continuing his championship campaign in Pro-Am, also faced early adversity after an opening-lap spin. Remaining focused under pressure, Mulcahy fought back through the field to claim a commanding P2 finish in class, further continuing his position in the championship standings.

John Jodoin maintained a steady and competitive pace throughout the race, delivering a strong P7 overall finish while continuing to build momentum in his 2026 campaign.

Marco Cirone’s weekend presented additional challenges, with his crew working diligently on repairs following Race 1 incidents in preparation for the scheduled second race.

Making his Porsche Carrera Cup North America debut, Matt Smith showcased impressive poise and race craft despite on-track contact, earning a standout P3 podium finish in Masters competition in his first series appearance.

Unfortunately, Race 2 of the Miami weekend was ultimately canceled and will be scheduled to make-up in toward the next championship round.

Despite the unpredictable nature of the weekend, ACI Motorsports leaves Miami with significant championship gains, strengthened team momentum, and continued proof of its depth across all classes.

“Miami tested everyone,” said ACI Motorsports Team Principal Curt Swearingin. “This weekend wasn’t about perfect circumstances, but our drivers and crew showed tremendous determination in difficult situations, and we’re proud to leave with critical points as we continue our championship push.”

With Round 3 complete, ACI Motorsports now turns its attention to maintaining momentum as the Porsche Carrera Cup North America season continues.

Round 4 of Porsche Carrera Cup North America wil take place at Watkins Glen International in the historic Watkins Glen, NY on June 25 - 27.
